This article covers what AI Notetaker is, how to capture your first Note, and what happens along the way.
What AI Notetaker does
Open the Notetaker tab in the Blinq app, tap "Take note", and speak. After you end the Note, Blinq transcribes what was said and creates an AI summary with key points, and next steps. You can also attach contacts to your Note: who you were speaking with, or about. Over time, your Notes create a rich picture of your relationships.
AI Notetaker works on all iOS and Android devices, including smartwatches. It also works with Bluetooth microphones.
When it's useful
Here's a few real examples of how people are using AI Notetaker:
During an in-person client meeting. Capture the conversation live, then pull up the transcript and summary afterwards. You can share a link to the summary with your client as a recap of what you discussed. If you have Blinq Business, you can export these Notes straight to your CRM*.
Right after a networking conversation. Use AI Notetaker as a dictaphone. After a conversation, capture the details from your memory — who you met, where they work, opportunities and next steps — before the next handshake pushes it out of your head.
On a video call. Play the call out loud and open Blinq on your phone nearby — it'll record the conversation through your mic.
*CRM export is currently only available on Blinq for Business.
Asking for consent
If you're capturing a conversation with other people, always ask them for consent before you start. It's good practice, it builds trust, and in many places it's the law.
A short line is usually enough:
"Would it be okay if I recorded a quick note while we chat? It helps me remember the details and follow up properly."
Capturing your first Note
Open the Blinq app and tap the AI Notetaker tab.
Tap the 'Take note' button.
Speak, or hold the phone nearby while you and someone else talk.
You can pause the Note at anytime by tapping "Pause."
When you're done, tap 'End'.
After you finish, Blinq will transcribe the audio and generate an AI summary. After that, you can open the Note to read the full transcript, and jump to the summary for the highlights. You can also edit the AI generated title and summary.
Linking Notes to a Contact
A Note is more useful when it lives on a Contact. When you save a Note, you can attach it to one or more of your Blinq Contacts — or create a new Contact right then if you've just met them.
Linking a Contact to a Note does not share the Note with the other person. The Note remains private and only visible to you, unless you choose to share it (see ‘Sharing and Exporting’ below).
Linking contacts can happen in 2 ways:
Automatically. If you exchange Blinq cards while capturing a Note, the Contact is attached for you — Blinq assumes you were talking to the person when you exchanged details.
After you capture the Note. Tap the note, then the + button in the Contacts section. Blinq shows your contacts on the screen. Select, search, or add a new Contact if you've just met them.
Linked the wrong person? Open the Note, tap Edit in the Contacts section, uncheck the Contact, and hit Save.
Once it's linked, the Note joins all the other details you have on that Contact. Next time you meet, you can review all the context — the names of their kids, the project they were stressed about, the follow-up you promised. You walk into every conversation looking sharp and genuinely engaged, because you remember the details that matter to them. This is the part of Blinq that gets better the more you use it.
What happens to audio and transcript from your Notes
After processing, your audio is stored securely for 30 days, then deleted automatically.
You can delete any Note (and its transcript) from the app at any time, with the steps below.
For the full detail, see our Privacy Policy.
Deleting a note
To delete a Note, go to the Notetaker Tab. Swipe left on the Note you wish to delete. Tap the trash can icon, then confirm you’d like to delete the Note.
Sharing and exporting
You can share your Notes with others so they have the details too. Here's how:
Send via text or email. Tap the Export icon on a Note and pick text or email. Your phone opens a new message with a short pre-written intro and a link to the Note — just add the recipient and send.
Copy a link. Tap the Export icon, then Copy. You'll get a link to the Note that you can paste anywhere — Slack, a doc, LinkedIn DM, wherever.
Export to your CRM. If you've set up CRM export in your Blinq Business account, the Note will land in Salesforce or HubSpot pre-linked to the contact.
If something goes wrong
A few things to check if a Note didn't come out right:
No speech detected / No insights detected: Summaries need at least a few sentences of speech. Very short Notes may only produce a transcript.
Poor accuracy. Loud background noise and very quiet voices are the usual culprits. Move somewhere quieter if you can, or hold the phone closer to the person speaking.
Missing transcript: In rare cases, the Note can fail to produce a transcript. If this occurs, reach out to support.
